Miners take 4th straight

Another game, another win and the Miners continue to roll through the early stages of the schedule.  A bump in the road to open the year against the Bucs didn’t stop Mat-Su from exacting its revenge.  Another strong outing from the Miners starter led to a 6-3 win.

So far it’s seems that whoever Head Coach Russell Raley has thrown out there has succeeded.  The win for Clayton Ehlert (Texas A&M) marks the 4th straight victory for a Miners starting pitcher, in addition to the team.  Ehlert, who came off a rough start in the final game of Texas A&M’s NCAA Tournament, threw 6 scoreless innings.  He only gave up 2 hits and struck out 5.  The only runs came off relievers Will Musson and Estevan Uriegas.

The Miners raked at the plate as well.  DJ Gentile brought some extra pop to the middle of the order.  In his first game, the 43rd round pick of the Indians went 2-3 with 2 RBIs and scored a run.  The 3-4-5 hitters (Shane Brown, Jonathan Cisneros and Gentile) accounted for 6 of the 12 Miners hits, 4 of the runs, and 4 more RBIs.  Nick Cox (Columbia) also had another stellar game, hitting 3-4 with 2 RBI.

The Miners have another day off Tuesday before hosting the AIA Fire Wednesday night.  Game time is again set for 7 p.m.  Miners pregame hits the air at 6:45 right here.  The preliminary starting pitcher for the Miners is R.L. Eisenbach.
